Athlete Testimonials

I’m a runner and I was diagnosed with a Femoral Neck Stress Fracture August of last year. As per doctor’s orders, I spent almost 6 months with little to no exercise. Once I was cleared by my doctor to return to activity, I knew I needed help returning back to running. While the bone was healed, there were muscle weaknesses and imbalances from being injured that needed to be addressed. Day to day activity was fine, but I could feel that my gait was off and my stride was different when I tried to run. I started searching for coaches that worked with injured runners and found Crew Racing. I’m SO GLAD I found Caitlin when I did! She has a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is a rockstar athlete and coach on top of her degrees. She built a custom program for me to help strengthen my hip muscles and get me back to the starting line. She provided the perfect balance of medical expertise and coaching experience.

With a history of multiple orthopedic surgeries on my legs and now the two stress fractures in the past year, there have been many times throughout my journey where I have questioned whether or not I am even capable of running- let alone triathlon training. Caitlin assured me that we could absolutely make it happen, and most importantly do it in a safe way to prevent re-injury.

I highly recommend Crew Racing and Rehab to anyone in need of coaching or return to sport guidance post-injury. The personalized approach to training and open line of communication between the coach and athlete is amazing. At first, I was worried about how well the process would work since I am in Texas over 1000 miles away. It became clear right away that the distance wouldn’t be a problem. I am able to share my training data online and even reach out via phone with questions or concerns.

Crew Racing was the perfect fit for me! I value the time Caitlin and Drew spent getting to know me, my goals and what training time my busy schedule would allow. I especially appreciate Caitlin’s expertise in injury prevention and recovery as a physical therapist herself. Caitlin and Drew, because they got to know me, my personality, my life responsibilities, we able to give me the right amount of compassion and caring when I needed it; and a good kick in the pants when it was necessary. They certainly base their training plans on solid science and physiologic principles but their care and compassion for the athlete as a person is what sets them above and beyond all others.

I had an accident while out on the roads running that caused a significant injury. I was hit by a car in a crosswalk and fractured my bone right at the knee joint, I also had ACL injury with this accident. I had surgery with plates & screws to repair the fracture and spent weeks in a brace with no movement and pressure on the leg. It was a long road back to my sport, but finally I made it. Through the guidance of Crew, I have made a full return to sport pain free. I have completed several Ironman triathlons with my metal reinforced knee and manage to be competitive in my age group. I still get maintenance sessions with Crew for the minor issues that pop up associated with endurance sports. Overall, the return to sport journey has been an incredible experience and I could not have done it without Crew. Take that, doctors who said I would not make it back!

As we know, success in sport is not achieved overnight. In training and racing triathlon while working my full time job as a veterinarian, life gets busy! I’ve worked with Drew and Crew Racing for two years and have thrived in a quality over quantity approach to training. I had a 20 minute PR this year in the Ironman distance and a marathon PR (in a different Ironman!). It takes trust in a coach and faith in yourself to achieve your goals - I’m excited to see what the future holds as I continue work with this team!
